The lab technicians, academic staff and students in the Biomedical Science team at De Montfort have produced a number of microbiology resources over the years. All these ones are openly licensed for your use, and if you wish to download them, you can follow them throught to YouTube or also retrieve some of them from Jorum.ac.uk.
The basic starting point for any new microbiologist is learning the asceptic technique - and Marilena shows you this in how to set up aerobic and anaerobic incubations. Preparing a Gram stain and using API strips are both important starting points in identifying and classifying bacteria and are still performed in microbiology labs alongside more modern genetic and genomic techniques.
